Russian President Vladimir Putin visits Singapore for the first time. Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Singapore today for the 33rd ASEAN Summit. This is the first time that Putin has visited Singapore. Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in China at around 3:45 pm, and Minister of Education Wang Yikang greeted him at the airport. Putin will attend the summit in Singapore today and tomorrow. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Singapore and Russia. This visit once again affirms the broad and long-lasting friendship between the two countries. During the visit, Putin will meet with President Halima and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and attend the state banquet. President Halima will also co-chair the groundbreaking ceremony of the Russian Cultural Center with Putin. The ASEAN Summit and the series of meetings will be held until Thursday (15th). The summit was hosted by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, which is also the final milestone for China’s rotating presidency of ASEAN. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s special plane arrived at Singapore Airport at around 3:45 pm.
