IP Academy and Chongqing University’s School of Power Engineering to collaborate on innovation and IP competency development

IPOS subsidiary IP Academy Singapore and Chongqing University’s School of Power Engineering will partner to develop and offer IP competency development programmes in China and Singapore, after an agreement was signed between both parties on 21 Jun 2018.

The Strategic Collaboration Framework Agreement was signed by Prof. Qiang Liao, Dean of the School of Power Engineering, Chongqing University and Mr Kok Kitt Wai, Executive Director (Programmes) of IP Academy.

The signing was also witnessed by the School of Power Engineering’s Vice-Dean Prof. Chen Yang, and Director of International Relations Dr Kuan Sun, as well as by IP Academy’s Mr Eric Khoo, Group Head, Mr Jack Cheng, Head of North Asia, and Mr Felix Lim, Assistant Director, Global Executive Institute.

Under the agreement, the two parties will organise training events on IP-related topics, for government officials, businesses, academic staff, and students. These programmes will focus on the importance of IP protection for economic development, value creation, and innovation in the fields of power engineering and new energy.

For a start, IP Academy will host students of Chongqing University for a specially-curated short course in July 2018, which will be held annually thereafter.

This agreement is part of numerous partnerships that IP Academy has entered into recently with institutions from China, as part of efforts to broaden its reach into the region and beyond.

Other similar agreements forged include those with Renmin University and Guangzhou’s Jinan University.
